The upside about time is that there is always something to look forward to. Its downside is that once something happens, you can never gain it back. You can only relive it through the memories that you have gained, the lessons you have learned, and the facebook pictures you were tagged in.

I relive the awesomeness of yesterday in my head every chance I get. The vibe, the energy, the inspiration, even the anxiety. The fact that that was SCPASA’s third Summit astounded me. I can’t wait to see what great things will mobilize in the near future.

When you gather a group of people together united for a cause, you can sense the energy of passion, strength, and connectedness.

However, when you gather a group of people united for many causes, many with varying opinions, and beliefs, but are together for the sake of creating a platform, a common ground, and open space to create new things, new opportunities for EVERYONE to succeed…

that feeling is indescribable.

22 schools, hundreds of people, 1 day.

I had the honor of being part of such a cause–SCPASA Summit 2010. And I was truly humbled by all its attendees, vendors, sponsors, speakers, facilitators, FUNcilitators, and volunteers. It felt as if the soul of the conference perpetuated through the USC Campus.. filled with young, ambitious, fiery individuals.. anxious to make a difference, to inspire, yet be open to new ideas..

As much as I value independence, I value more the spirit of teamwork, and what great things can be achieved by respect and understanding.

It gives me great pride to realize that I took part in this experience. The entire day my cheeks hurt so bad from smiling, all the positive vibes kept us all energetic and chipper throughout the day. And after all the stress, planning, and all the things that could have gone wrong.. and DID go wrong.. it’s amazing how it all comes back together at the end of the day.

If you are reading this, and you weren’t able to go to Summit, you missed out on a great event. But you didn’t miss out on EVERYthing. Every single person who attended was able to bring back a new “lesson” to place inside of their metaphorical Balikbayan box, to use and share with their community.

Ask almost anyone in attendance and they’ll say they’ve learned something new.

And it is through events like these that we are able to truly see the talents of our peers,

and the fruits of our success.

Collaborate, converse, communicate, CONTINUE TO INSPIRE.
Rejoice in the little victories! & be the change you want to see in the world! (Gandhi said that)

SCPASA.. you did me proud. (:

I enjoy driving.

If you remove the headache of worrying about gas, mileage, and traffic,
there’s something very peaceful about being on the road, moving closer and closer to your destination

with music blasting

and your mind escaping reality for a fleeting moment.

Some people do their heaviest thinking in the shower.

I don’t.

I do my heaviest thinking on the road.

I like driving because I get to really get to ruminate about things,
and organize all the mess that’s been cluttering my mind.

So one time I was on the road and I thought to myself

“I’m exactly where I need to be right now.”

Have you ever thought that? We go through our daily routines so fast
we don’t realize the kind of work we’ve put ourselves through.
And the next thing you know we’re reaching the end of a time period

like oh shit, i’m graduating high school
or oh shit i’m graduating college
or oh shit i’m about to get married
or oh shit i just bought my own apartment

and then you find yourself laughing about how you never realized you would ever get to this moment..
and what life was like before you’ve hit this marker of self-realization..

But I just want you to think about it for a second.
Here, I’ll wait

Right now, you’re where you need to be.

If you are reading this and you are thinking
“Actually, I don’t think I am where I need to be.
Because I really don’t want to be in this situation right now.”

Well you were given this moment to realize your potential.
If you never stopped and thought about it, then how would you know?

You are exactly where you need to be in life right now because
a) you realized you’ve worked hard for this moment
b) you realized you need to change the way you live

I never thought that four years out of high school I’d end up here,
sitting in front of a computer, in a dorm room in West Los Angeles,
getting ready to wake up in the morning for an internship at Children’s Hospital for a leadership rotation.

I believe that it’s important to make as many dreams and goals as you can
because you’ll never achieve all of them.

Instead, you realize that you will achieve many other things in the process,

things you never you liked
things you never knew you were good at
and 110% of the time..

people you didn’t know you would become the best of friends with.

At this uncertain time, we are given a blessing.
with youth– energy, enthusiasm, innovation.
(and good looks)

It’s time to use those tools to create our future,
and you know, i hate to tell you this but
we kinda need to start NOW.

Think of this moment as your boiling point,
where water is about to turn into steam..

and it’s the steam that can power engines to mobilize your dreams into reaching reality.

I’m just saying that this is also not the time to rest,
it is time to step up your game because big things are ahead of you.

create a strategic plan for yourself, a care package if you will for your future
because the next thing you know.. you’ve reached your destination.
but will you be ready when you get there?

oh and by the way
have you registered for Summit?

So I don’t get sued..

I’m taking cardio dance class to fill up units and retain my full-time student citizenship at the Mount. My teacher likes to jazz things up (pun intended) a bit by mixing different styles of dancing into heart-pumping cardio work outs.

From stripteasing, to fist pumping, to rejecting, this girl makes us get DOWN.

Except today.

When I walked in she was playing the Rated R cd by Rihanna and I was super stoked to break a sweat, and break my neck on the dance floor.

You can imagine my surprise when she turned one of her songs into a lyrical number.

She made us do moves I can’t pronounce, crawl on the floor, and use phrases like “jungle cats” to describe us.
I for one, am not a ballerina. I will never move like a ballerina.

She is waaaaaay to flexible for her own good. And for all you guys reading this who are slightly turned on by that.

a moment of silence

Can we please pause for a moment of silence.
My laptop was recently struck by a malicious trojan, which wiped out all of my files–

pictures, documents, videos…

and my MUSIC.

My entire music library has been wiped away..
and for those of you that know me very well, music has been the essence of my soul.

I feel as if my heart has been stabbed by the prongs of the Trojan’s pitchfork.

(For the record, I know Trojans don’t use pitchforks. But it’s still a good image)

all those years of relentlessly searching for songs, instrumentals, remixes, and Side B tracks..

all of the .mp3’s, and mixtapes that were given to me as gifts..

on the flip side, my slate has been wiped clean.
& it’s an excuse for a brand new start.

R.I.P. music library
you will be missed.

Talented people make hard work look effortless, and determination look pleasurable. Never do they rest on the laurels of their success.

Congratulations to this year’s Grammy nominees and winners.
